To avoid worrying about what time your plane might arrive at Oporto to coincide with our timings, you are invited to make your way on the Thursday 6th September to the Hotel Pedras Rubras (very close to Oporto airport) any time you wish. If you are there by 19:30, please join us for dinner at a lovely nearby restaurant. We will stay at the Pedras Rubras Hotel overnight.

The tour proper starts at 11am on Friday 7th September when a coach will take you from Pedras Rubras hotel (near the airport) to Taylors Port Lodge in Vila Nova de Gaia. We’ll have an aperitif on the lawn, then lunch in the terrace restaurant with its splendid vista of Oporto and the river Douro. After lunch there will be a tour of the lodge followed by a tutored tasting of five ports. You’ll also have a chance to visit the Taylors Shop.

At around 4pm we’ll take you to the 5 star Yeatman Hotel, renowned for its opulence, for you to check in, relax and freshen up. In the evening we’re off for a dinner boat cruise on the Douro an experience in itself.

The next morning after breakfast, we go to Penafiel in Vinho Verde country were we will visit the vineyards and cellars of the Quinta da Aveleda. After this we go by coach to Fafe and have lunch at the Aldeia do Pontido restaurant where we taste the wonderful Vinho Verde wines produced by Vinhos Norte. Later on we’ll visit the vineyards of Vinhos Norte. Then on to our hotel for the next three days, the Quinta da Pacheca. See website http://www.wonderfulland.com/pacheca/#  .

We are going to leave the next day (Sunday) free to your own devices, to site see, relax, walk or visit the nearby town of Lamego.  On Monday the 10th the coach will take us to Santa Marta de Panaguiao and we’ll have a vineyard tour at the Quinta da Gaivosa and we’ll taste their wines and ports at their cellar. We’ll move on to lunch at Regua and in the afternoon visit the Peso da Regua Douro Museum where we can review the origins of Douro winemaking.

On Tuesday the 11th we’re off to Quinta de la Rosa, at Chanceleiros, near Pinhao and other Quintas  in the afternoon. In the evening will check in at the Quinta de Santo Antonio Hotel for the next three nights. See http://www.quintasantoantonio.pt/eng/photos/?offset=20 .

Leaving at 09:00 on Wednesday 12th our coach will take you to the Tua Valley to spend the day with our friend Victor Marques (winemaker extraordinaire) of Vitoria Koi Wines. Your experience there will probably involve a vineyard tour, a wine and food pairing lunch and a boat trip.

Our day on Thursday 13th will be more relaxed in the morning with a possible visit to a 12th Century church and a small family run Quinta for lunch – prior to our visit to Quinta do Panascal (Fonseca) for an audio tour of the vineyards and “largares” with a Port tasting accompanied by almonds, afterwards.

Friday the 14th, starts very early as we’ll take the picturesque train journey back to Oporto from Pinhao and finishing the tour with a farewell lunch at the Santa Brasa fish restaurant.
