Ideas on what to expect on our “Rye Friday” e-bike vineyard tour:

E-Bike in the vineyard
You will be paired-off with a hired e-bike for the day. The first 15 minutes is reserved for firm instructions on e-bike capabilities. If you have not ridden an E-Bike before then, for safety sake it is worth taking a test ride to familiarise yourself, before leaving.
In due consideration of the English weather pattern and the English vine growing season, we have planned twenty-three guided e-bike vineyard tour dates on our Rye route during our 2023 season, running weekly every Friday from 21 April through to 22 September.
All our UK single weekday guided vineyard tours normally start at 10:00 and finish at 17:00 hours; the respective seven-hour day includes two wine producer visits and lunch in a vineyard setting.
Once everyone is ready, we head off on a circuitous route initially in a north westerly direction cross-country (keeping away from main roads whenever possible) to the Oxney Organic Estate, our first wine producer venue, near Beckley.
Our visit starting at 11:00 hrs. lasts ninety minutes and cover’s a vineyard tour, winery visit followed by a tutored wine tasting. Soon afterwards, we can enjoy a picnic lunch with a glass of wine overlooking their vineyards, prior to departing at 14:00 hrs.
As carrying away any number of bottles you decide to buy from a wine producer is unsafe or prohibitive on an E-Bike, we would encourage you to place an order for home delivery!
Our onward journey (for about eleven miles) to our next wine producer venue at Charles Palmer Vineyards near Winchelsea covers a more challenging route of cross-country tracks with some bridleway paths – so being quite fit is a key element on this particular-journey (even with E-Bike power assistance)!
On arrival at Charles Palmer Vineyards at 15:10 hrs., we will meet Chantal Palmer who will talk about their family history, overlooking a panoramic view of their vineyards. Afterwards you will be presented with a tutored tasting of three wines (still and sparkling).
Our return journey to Rye railway station follows a gentle north easterly route.
