Kent ME18 E-Bike Wine Tour
We meet at 10:30 on a Wednesday at Wateringbury railway station ME18 5EA (on the Medway Valley line). After about 20 minutes e-bike instruction & test riding (if necessary) – we head off on a circuitous route west towards our first venue in West Peckham and later to another in Mereworth.
Like all our UK single-day wine tours, we can only operate with a minimum of six (6) adult participants, which for this route, there are only 6 places available (due to e-bike hire accessibility). All our UK single-day wine tours normally start at 10:00 and finish at 17:00 hours, at the latest.
However, please also note that this particular-wine tour is only available from the week commencing 12 July 2021 – so advance bookings for Wednesday 14th July and ensuing Wednesdays of 21st and 28th July are advisable.
The stream that flows through Wateringbury, which rises in the village of Swanton (in the parish of West Peckham) once powered a few watermills – one of which lies in the grounds of Mereworth Castle. Mereworth Castle, a grade1 Palladian country house, is owned by Mahdi Al-Tajir (a former United Arab Emirates ambassador). He also owns the Highland Spring bottled water company. Sadly, Mereworth Castle is generally not open to the public.

YOTES COURT- On the Bridle Bacchus
We cycle to Yotes Court, near West Peckham for a vineyard tour, followed by lunch and wine tasting of 4 newly created still wines – whose brand is closely-associated with horseracing.
Later we cycle a short distance to visit Mereworth Wines, established in 2015 by a Cornishman, where you will experience an hour’s winery tour with wine tasting afterwards.
As carrying away any number of bottles you decide to buy from a wine producer or winery is unsafe or prohibitive on an e-bike, we would encourage you to place an order for home delivery!
Our return to Wateringbury station follows an easterly route via Nettlestead.
