Day 2 Friday – Belém – Alfama

Good morning Lisbon! Today you will explore Lisbon’s high-end, riverside district of Belém followed by a tour through Alfama, and ending at Sao Jorge’s castle at sunset.

You begin your day with a great breakfast in the hotel. Once you’ve savoured your deliciously sumptuous breakfast you will enjoy a guided morning sightseeing tour visiting the quarter of Belém. Here you will visit the Jerónimos Monastery – this historical and beautiful monastery is one of the most astounding and breathtaking visions you’ll experience in Lisbon, and absolutely worthy of your visit, as well as the Belém Tower, the old military naval tower that was once located in the middle of the river. During your sightseeing tour, have a coffee or a glass of Port at the famous Pasteis de Belém to savour their historically popular egg tarts.

You will have lunch in the typical local restaurant Museu da Cerveja overlooking the beautiful Terreiro do Paço Square.

In the afternoon you will visit the Alfama and you will enjoy a port and wine tasting. Visiting Alfama is to visit the architecture, the sounds and the smells of old Lisbon. This is one of the most typical quarters in Lisbon. On its narrow and winding streets you will find the hidden treasure of Alfama and on its steep stairs you will be able to breathe the soul of Lisbon. Once you already are in Alfama do not miss to visit Castelo de São Jorge. We would suggest a visit in the late afternoon, which is the ideal time to catch the blushing sunset blanketing the city. Dinner at Restaurant Eleven with its famous chef Joaquim Koerper devoted to Mediterranean Cuisine.

Note: The restaurant recently lost its star. There is another newcomer Belcanto by Chef José Avillez. We can also suggest this one but it doesn’t overlook the city.

Day 3 Saturday – Sintra – Cascais – Estoril

After taking a delightful breakfast at your hotel, get ready to experience a complete unique private guided full day tour of Sintra, Cascais and Estoril.

Although you’ll never run out of things to see and do in Lisbon, the city’s beautiful and varied coastline demands a daytrip. You will leave for a tour of Sintra where you will enjoy a guided visit to the magical Pena Palace and learn interesting facts about Portuguese history. Palacio da Pena is perfectly located on top of a hill with amazing views. Have a coffee at famous Café de Paris with the typical Queijada Cakes.

To continue your day enjoy an amazing lunch at Furnas do Guincho, the beach is famous for its wonderful views on the brave sea and its delicious fish and shellfish.

In the afternoon stroll through the picturesque city of Cascais before returning to Lisbon. On the drive back to Lisbon, the scenic views along the Atlantic Coast will amaze you!

The evening is free for leisure to explore Lisbon and to have dinner.

Note: Estoril is a very small village – no sense to make a guided tour.

Day 4 Sunday – museum day

After breakfast you will head towards to a guided tour of Calouste Gulbenkian Museum, Ancient Art Museum and the Design Museum.  You will enjoy a buffet lunch overlooking the Tagus River at Café d’Arte, which is located at the Ancient Art Museum.

The afternoon is free for personal activities. In the evening you should enjoy dinner at Bica do Sapato. It is known for being co-owned by actor John Malkovich, but has remained popular mostly for its excellent gourmet cuisine and its setting with a wonderful view of the Tagus river.

Note: This is the better option as the day before they had lunch on the seaside with fish and shellfish
