NAVARRA WINE TOUR – 2 days – from Friday 22nd September 2017
Our Navarra Wine Tour, starts after our Rioja wine tour (see, www.winesandtours.co.uk/rioja-wine-tour-2/) outside Hotel Carlton Rioja (Central Logrono) at 12:45 on Friday 22nd September, when we shall travel by minibus towards Olite, with lunch at 13:30 on the way. Once in Olite, we shall visit Bodegas Ochoa (a family run wine producer in the heart Navarra) late that afternoon – prior to checking-in at the Hotel Parador de Olite (our base for two nights).
The Hotel Parador de Olite was once part of the old castle. Navarra, where the people are mainly Basque, which has resisted many foreign invaders in the past and neither the Moors nor the Francs made many inroads there.
Show more On Saturday 23rd, after our breakfast at the Parador, we travel northwest to our first bodega visit to Bodegas Irache in Ayegui (a much larger producer compared to the family run business we visited the previous afternoon) which will of course include a wine-tasting afterwards. In size, Bodegas Irache is similar to Quinta da Aveleda in North Portugal which is probably the largest winery that we visit in all our wine-tours, and as such it is interesting to see the vastness of the enterprise and the logistics of handling such large scale production. Before going on to visit another bodega in the afternoon, we shall be able to see more of the countryside on our way to lunch near Larraga. When we are back in Olite the latter part of the afternoon and early evening is being left free for you to explore the town – prior to our farewell dinner in the Parador. On Sunday morning 24th September – dependent upon your onward travel arrangements, options of which can be discussed with us – we suggest you make time to visit the wine museum almost next door to the Parador. What is included & what is not included? Not included are flight arrangements & transport to our starting point or from our finishing point. Within the start and finish points, all transport, accommodation, meals, boat costs, winery visits & wine tastings are included. Bookings: Each tour is booked with a €200 non-refundable deposit per person to enable us to firmly secure the hotel accommodation.
