Special weekend Tour 18th September to 21st September
Special long weekend, Douro Tour. Originally conceived as a reunion of Ecademists who came on a fabulous tour we had with our wine-grower friend, Victor Marques, in the past. This tour is open to anyone who would like to experience the charms of the Douro. It starts in the evening with a “welcome dinner” (which coincides with a farewell dinner for our 6 day tour participants) and a first night of decadent luxury at “The Yeatman” on the 18th Sept.
The next morning we will tour Taylors Port lodge next door followed by a tasting and lunch at their Tres Seculos restaurant. After this we’ll drive to the heart of the Douro via Vinho Verde Country at Fafe, where we will visit Vinhos Norte vineyards and winery and taste a selection of their wines. Then on to the upper Douro, at Tua, where we will have dinner and stay at a local hotel – the Flor do Monte, if available.
The following day will be spent with Victor Marques (wine producer) and will probably include lunch at Tua and a boat trip on the Douro River. We will round off the trip with a farewell dinner in the area.
On Monday 21st September – we propose that people make their way back to Porto via the picturesque train journey, passing through Pinhao and Regua.
