DOURO VALLEY 2-day Wine Tour

Douro Valley Suggested 2-day Wine Tour

2-day Douro Valley Wine Tour from Vila Nova de Gaia

Tour starts at 10am on a Monday in the reception of The Yeatman Hotel in Vila Nova de Gaia near Porto and ends at 10am two days later, on a Wednesday at the Hotel Casa do Tua in Foz do Tua.

This two-day Wine-Tour is ideal for people who are already holidaying in Portugal and who would like to incorporate a short wine tour with us, during their stay.

To offer you greater flexibility, our Scheduled wine tours have evolved into Suggested wine tours whereby you are free to choose the dates for this tour to run from a Monday morning through until two days later-on a Wednesday morning. We need a minimum of six participants to make this wine tour viable and plenty of notice (minimum of 90 days) to secure hotel accommodation.

The best times weather wise are probably between April to June or from September to November.  Normally, the wine harvest in the Douro starts around the middle of September, when all Quintas are busiest. Your chosen dates will enable us to send you a quote, which largely depends on your chosen time of travel.

Participants of this shortened Douro Valley Wine-Tour meet at 10am on a Monday at The Yeatman Hotel for a coffee. We then walk over to Taylor’s Port Lodge for a conducted tour and Port tasting. Afterwards we continue to Vinho Verde Country with our visit and tasting at Vinhos Norte followed by lunch and more tasting. Then we are driven to Foz do Tua where we spend the next two nights. Our chosen hotel overlooks the Douro river with its stunning scenery.

The next day we join our wine producer friend, Victor Marques, who shows us round his extensive vineyards. He usually puts on a splendid barbecue for us overlooking one of his vineyards and family and friends join in. In the evening, if the group feels so inclined, we like to take a walk by the Douro river at Foz do Tua and follow up with a light tapas supper.

Our 2-day wine tour finishes the next morning on a Wednesday after breakfast in Hotel Casa do Tua.  Members wend their way back to Porto on a picturesque train journey from Tua station, nearby.

Those who are staying with us for our full [Douro Valley 6 day Wine Tour] will be treated to a boat journey downstream to the famous Quinta Nova winery, which is the next winery visit.
