PORTUGAL/SPAIN Two-Country 3-Day Wine Tour

Portugal/Spain Two-Country Suggested 3-day Wine Tour

PORTUGAL/SPAIN Two-Country 3-Day Wine Tour, linked by a Douro River Cruise Wine Tour in Portugal towards Spain

The tour starts at 8pm on a Saturday in the Vintage House Hotel in Pinhão, Portugal. The tour ends at 6pm on a Tuesday at the Carlton Rioja in Logroño, Spain.

Although a Wine-Tour in its own right, this tour was conceived as the ideal way to link our Douro Valley 6-day Wine-Tour with our 3-day Rioja Wine Tour. As a shorter alternative, you could combine this tour with our 3-day Rioja Wine Tour as an unusual and interesting 6-day experience with us.

To offer you greater flexibility, our Scheduled wine tours have evolved into Suggested wine tours whereby you are free to choose the dates to run this wine tour from a Saturday evening through until the following Tuesday evening. We need a minimum of six participants to make this wine tour viable and plenty of notice (minimum of 90 days) to secure hotel accommodation.

The best times to visit Salamanca (our first destination on this wine tour) and Ribera del Duero is late September to early October.  Normally, the wine harvest in Ribera del Duero starts early October but in Rioja it is slightly earlier in late September, when all Bodegas are busiest. Your chosen dates will enable us to send you a quote, which largely depends on your chosen time of travel.

The tour starts with a welcome dinner at 8pm in the 5* Vintage House Hotel in Pinhão. The hotel is easily reached by an incredibly picturesque train journey from Porto to Pinhão and the hotel is within walking distance of the station.

After our overnight stay in the Vintage House Hotel and breakfast, we set off in the morning on a River Boat upstream to Barca d’Alva near the Spanish border. The scenery is nothing short of stunning. Port tastings and lunch are provided on board. From Barca d’Alva we will be driven to the city of Salamanca where we will spend that night.

On Monday morning, we head for Tudanca in Aranda de Duero. Tudanca Aranda is a 4* hotel, with a magnificent restaurant. It is right in the heart of an important Spanish Wine region, so our night there breaks up the journey to Logroño with some excellent gastronomy and a winery visit before we leave.

The next evening, we reach Logroño where our Rioja 3-day wine tour starts.

Our arrival outside Hotel Carlton Rioja in Logroño at about 6pm on a Tuesday evening marks the finish of our Portugal/Spain Two-country Wine Tour.

Participants could of course choose to join our Suggested Rioja 3-day Wine Tour which starts on a Tuesday evening at 8pm with a Pintxo Bar crawl in Logroño old town.
