Our Douro Valley weekend is ideal if you only have time for a short break. It is available as a 3-day tour, or for really busy people, as a 2-day tour.
Summary:
Originally conceived as a reunion for members of the former Ecademy network, who had enjoyed visiting wine-producer, Victor Marques, this celebratory wine-tour visit to the heart of the Douro, is open to all.
Our 3-day option starts with a night at the 5* Yeatman Hotel with its stunning vista of Porto where we meet for a welcome dinner at 21:00 on Friday 16th September.
Our 2-day option starts at 10:45 on Saturday 17th September with a tour of Taylor’s Port lodge.

For the start of the 3-day tour – you will check-in and be staying overnight at the splendid Yeatman 5* Hotel with its magnificent vista of Porto.
We meet for a “welcome dinner” there on Friday 16 September at 21:00 (this actually coincides with a farewell dinner for our 6-day tour participants).
You can check-in at The Yeatman from 14:00. The luxury facilities of the spa, swimming pool and gym are at your disposal.
Unless you have made contact to join us earlier (you are welcome to do so), we meet at The Yeatman reception at 20:45pm on Friday 16th September.
The next morning at 10:45 am we will tour Taylor’s Port lodge next door, followed by a Port tasting and lunch at their Tres Seculos restaurant.
The 10:45 am visit on Saturday 17 September is the starting point for the 2-day tour. After the lodge tour and lunch, we’ll drive to the heart of the Douro via Vinho Verde wine country at Fafe, where we will visit the Vinhos Norte vineyards and winery and taste a selection of their wines. Then on to the upper Douro, at Tua, where we will have dinner and stay at a local hotel – the Flor do Monte, if available.
The following day will be spent with Victor Marques (a charismatic well-known wine producer). How the day will be spent is in his hands. Last year we were treated to a tour of his vineyards followed by the most fantastic all-day barbecue by his new country cottage overlooking his land. We spend a second night at the Flor do Monte and have a farewell dinner there.
On Monday 19th September – we propose that you make your way back to Porto via the picturesque train journey, passing through Pinhão and Regua – unless of course you book the River Cruise Paul Link to either join us to Barca d’Alva near the Spanish border and then travel on with us to Logroño in Rioja, Spain or return to Pinhão – from whence on 24th you’ll return to Porto by train for your final leg.
What is and what is not included?
Flight arrangements and/or other travel to our starting point – [a] at 20:45 in the reception at The Yeatman, Vila Nova de Gaia on Friday 16/09/16 OR
[b] at 10:45 at Taylor’s Port Lodge, Vila Nova de Gaia on 17/09/16 – are not included.
What is included is: All accommodation, transport, meals, winery and other visits, tastings until the tour end point.
Except for those continuing on the river cruise, both tours end at 11am at Tua railway station on Monday 19th September.
Bookings:
Each tour is booked with a €200 non-refundable deposit per person to enable us to firmly secure the hotel accommodation. The balance will later be payable by bank transfer 60 days before the tour commences.
