GREECE – KEFALONIA – 3-day tour from 24nd July 2016

Kefalonia, the charming little island of Captain Corelli fame, has its own indigenous grape, Robola, to be found practically nowhere else on earth. Although it is only a small island in the Ionian Sea, it sports its own wine routes, offering us a number of wineries to visit as well as a substantial wine cooperative.

The tour starts with a welcome Meze Dinner at 8pm Friday 24th July at the Byzantio Apartments Hotel near Spartia on the South West of the island. This is our base hotel. We’ll be visiting wineries and tasting their wines, but also spending sometime visiting the beauty spots of the island. The tour will end with a farewell dinner at 8pm Monday 27th July at one of our favourite restaurants in the area. Accommodation for the night of the 27th July is included in the tour cost.

We plan two winery visits a day over the next two days : Gentilini and the Robola Co-operative on one day, Divino Wines and Melisinos on another. Melisinos is near some lovely beaches South of where we will be staying and we will stop at one of them for a swim before having a light lunch at the Sesto Koroni Hill Bar, further up the mountainside. The view overlooking the sea is the epitome of serenity. In the evening we’ll have a wine-and-food-pairing meze at a restaurant in Scala, followed by a tasting of 3-4 Greek dessert wines at the “Greek Wine Experience” Wine Bar.
On the third day (subject to weather conditions, which are normally great) we offer an optional extra of a boat trip with extensive wine-tasting (8 different premium Greek wines), lunch on board and two beach stops. We need a minimum of six people for this particular trip. The additional cost of the trip is €100 per person. Not quite everyone likes boats and an alternative of sightseeing and beach time is offered.
What is included and what is not included?
Flight arrangements and/or transport to the start and from the finish points are not included. All transport, accommodation, meals, winery visits, and other visits are included from the tour start to the end point.

Bookings:
Each tour is booked with a €200 non-refundable deposit per person to enable us to firmly secure the hotel accommodation. The balance will become payable by bank transfer 60 days before the tour commences.
