Cyprus Luxury for wine-loving golfers and their golf widows
If you like golf and you like wine this is the perfect holiday for you and your partner: A week at the opulent Aphrodite Hills hotel (http://www.aphroditehills.com) overlooking the best golf course in Free Cyprus and located a few miles from the famous Aphrodite’s rock where Venus was reputed to have emerged from the waves.

For non-golfing partners, a host of alternative activities are on offer: spa treatments, horse riding, tennis, gym. There are several swimming pools at the hotel, but also a free shuttle to the hotel’s private beach. There’s a biking trail and a nature-walk trail within a dramatic ravine.
Golf and Wine – Great Culture
By and large, we are organising wine touring after golf, but there is one complete day devoted to the wonderful wine trails round Paphos. We are also allowing a little time for site-seeing.
Our provisional programme is as follows:
Wednesday 22nd October.
Your travel day. We don’t want to do anything too strenuous so we’ll be asking one of the local wineries to come and do a tasting at the hotel , then we’ll have dinner outdoors at the hotel’s tavern with live Greek music.
Thursday 23rd October.
We’ll tee off with Golf at the Aphrodite Hills own champion golf course with a snack lunch at the Club House. At around 4 pm, we’ll set off for the Vouna Panaya winery (http://www.vounipanayiawinery.com) in the Troodos foothills. After a wine-tasting there we’ll have dinner at their restaurant.
Friday 24th October.
We will organise transport for golf to a neighbouring Golf course for a round there. We’ll have a light packed lunch and after golf set off for some wine touring to the picturesque village of Laneia, tasting at the Megaros Winery which has a special way of making Commandaria and we’ll possibly eat there.
Golf and Wine – Great Pool
Saturday 25th October.
We have what the French call a “Grasse Matinée” – a bit of a lie-in except for the energetic ones who go for early morning swimming or gym. At 10.30 am, we leave for the Kolios Winery where we will have a tour of the winery, taste their wines and have a magnificent meze lunch at their restaurant which has a stunning outlook on the valley below. In the afternoon we’ll have some relaxing site-seeing and a tasting at one other winery. Back to the hotel for a light supper, if you are up to it, after the meze lunch.
Golf and Wine – Great Setting
Sunday 26th October.
For variety, we’ve arranged golf at a third golf course. We’ll have a light packed lunch. After golf we’ll taste wines at three different local wineries and finish the day with a nice restaurant meal out.
Golf and Wine – Great Scenery
Monday 27th October.
We round off the holiday with Golf at the Aphrodite Hills. Light lunch at the Club House or Beach. Site-seeing at the ancient archaeological site of Kourion and farewell dinner at one of the fish restaurants on the beach.
Tuesday 28th October.
Alas time to travel back. We recommend that you try to go for an afternoon or evening flight and enjoy some extra relaxation at the beach or by the pool.
