RIOJA WINE TOUR

RIOJA WINE TOUR – 4 days from eve of 18th September
2017 also 4 days from eve of 7th June 2017

Have we got a treat in store for you?

Our Rioja Tour starts on the evening of the 18th September with a fabulous Wine-and-Food pairing Pintxo Bar Crawl under the guidance of a professional wine educator, Jose Ramon Berger.

On the morning of 19th we will visit the “Rioja Alevesa” sub region for the day.

When we reach Laguardia, we will briefly visit the medieval town before going on to see a rather fascinating winery with a boutique hotel, at Bodegas Eguren Ugarte. This has natural cellars under the rocky ground, and it stores wine for private customers, in gated holdings.

We shall then travel to Bodegas Ruiz de Vinaspre for a winery tour followed by tasting of their wines and lunch in the bodega. Afterwards, we shall return to Laguardia’s walled city, which has panoramic views of the surrounding landscape, where we will relax, prior to a light supper there.

.

The next day at 10.00am (morning of the 20th) we will go to the “Rioja Alta” area for the day. Starting in Haro, we shall experience visits to Bodegas Muga (who are unique as being the only winery in Rioja to manufacture their own barrels) and Cune – prior to lunch at the rather splendid restaurant, La Vieja Bodega in nearby Casalarreina. After lunch we will visit the Vivanco Museum and winery in Briones.  In the evening we will have a light meal out in Logroño.

On Thursday 21st September – we shall travel to the “Rioja Baja” sub region for the morning.  After lunch, we’ll go back to Logroño to give you some free time to explore this lively town during the Annual Harvest Festival. It is the only evening where dinner is not included in the tour price*. If you prefer to join us, for some exploring, you are welcome.

The next day we just have time to visit the Bodegas Franco Españolas on the other side of the river at Logroño. Those who are stopping the tour here will be taken to Logroño station unless other arrangements are agreed. For those who want to continue with us to Navarra, free transport will be provided to our chosen hotel, the Parador in the town of Olite.
